Power steering pump

Well another day another hurdle . I am using the pump from the 95 f 250 ( power steering box ) and connected it to the corvette power steering rack and I am literally boiling the oil . Does any one know if a rack type steering needs a different type of pump or are the pressures just too high ?

Is that the Ford pump? If you have a 302 or 351W using the '96 f250 front accesories, you could find a saginaw pump/ bracket from a full size van. Saginaw pump=GM pump=Corvette friendly!
I bought an adjustable pressure control for my setup.

I just looked through some of your pics. Yes you need to find the bracket and saginaw pump from a Ford fullsize van. The bracket is identical to what you already have, but they use the canned ham saginaw GM pump. Very popular swap with the big tired 4x4 guys. I have what you need but probably cheaper to get it locally. I can send pics if needed.

Another note. If you have the pump that came with the Corvette motor, DO NOT get rid of it! You will need the pressure valve from it.

Is it simply a pressure difference or does a r&p use a bypass of some sort . What year of van would I need and why did they use a different pump ? I am afraid it will be very difficult where I am to find a van with a 351w so any pics or help you can give is appreciated . Thanks

I wish I could sell and send you mine, but I still have the 351w and can see a project in the future with it.

This is where the magic is at. This is where the pressure/flow valve is at. Get the corvette pressure valve. Pull this out and install the corvette valve. Done!

Not exactly sure on what year to when. This one came from an '91 E150
I spent $40 ish US dollars for this. Wasn't hard to find here 8 years ago. Obviously the bracket is the important piece.
The pump is just the canned ham GM pump, but the correct pulley is needed to. I think I saw you have the serpentine setup.
Hope this helps!

This is another option for you. I had to go this route for my explorer remote reservoir pump to Jag rack n pinion

Yes sir. You will have the ability to set your own pressure using the existing pump you have. This valve get plumbed into the pressure side of the pump, and also the return side of the pump. There is expense in the cost of the valve and the lines needed to plumb it. So if you could find the Ford Van bracket. You are money ahead.
Heck I have seen them on ebay as well. However that will cost you a little more.

Here is one for the pump. You can contact the seller about the bracket. Heck they may include the bracket with the pump, because to remove the pump, you have to pull the pulley off. I doubt they go to that trouble.
this is cheap and the best solution. Many talk about the whiny pump. The one you have.
google search. "Ford Saginaw swap" for more info
