I bought an adjustable pressure control for my setup.
All 1975 and later Econolines have the Saginaw P/S pump, but the 302 wasn't available until 1979.

351W first installed in 1975 Econolines. F150/350 & Bronco didn't get the 351W until 1981.

Saginaw P/S pump resembles a "canned ham."

Exellent help guys I did a quick search on car-part . com and there are quite a few . I would guess that I would need to get into the mid to late 80's to get one with a serpentine pulley .

What do you mean boiling the oil ??
Is it frothing up and spewing out when you remove the cap ?
If it is , it is most likely just trapped air in the system and not actually boiling oil .
Try filling it up and doing full lock to lock cycles with the steering , but only do it with the engine idling .

It is boiling it actually melted the dipstick part of the cap and after running it continues to boil .

Ebear I got your PM. That remote reservoir corvette pump looks almost identical to the remote reservoir pump on my '96 Ford Explorer 5.0 that's what I have in my '49
There is gonna have to be some research done. I don't know if that is a saginaw or not.
What rack n pinion are you using? If it is an aftermarket unit, find out what they recommend for a pump.
This power steering stuff is frustrating...I have searched for details on what uses what and why, I haven't seen any good solid info out there. Now I'm really interested to find out!
I will take a pic of my setup tomorrow after work and send it to you via PM. Somebody out there has to be a power steering guru. We just haven't found that person yet.

The rack is as far as I know the stock 1985 ? vette . It's starting to look like I may have to find a way to mount the vette pump but it drives off the backside of the belt and is certainly not going to be pretty or easy . I guess the other option is the adjustable regulator that you mentioned which may be the best but not the cheapest .

I'm sorry I haven't read up on your build yet. And I am not a wealth of knowledge when it comes to anything I haven't had my own hands on. Never been in a corvette or worked on one. Maybe 70droptopss Dave can shed some light. He seems like a sharp guy with this Chevy stuff.
Pics of your corvette front suspension would help me. Are they rack n pinion? I don't even know.

I can't speak to your Corvette Rack, but I use the Saginaw Pump for the Toyota Box Swap. When I researched the pressure issue, I noted that whatever that valve is properly called in the pump rear provided around 1000 psi or so. They offered an 850 psi unit which they said was appropriate for the Mustang Rack. May be "apples and oranges" but for what it's worth...

Look at your corvette pump. Where the steel line connects.
take the steel line off. Then look at the fitting, in the pump, where the steel line was threaded into. Does it look like you can remove it? That is where the pressure control valve is at.
If that is removable it should hold the secret to your problem.
If it does come loose, be careful removing it. There might be shims in there. Just work on a bench or something to keep from losing any "jesus parts"
aka..."Jesus that flew away...Hope I didn't need it!"
the pic of the pump is too dark to tell
