Keyless entry reprogramming

I’ve got a 2017 f250 and both my key fabs stopped working. Can I reprogram them myself or do I have to take it to the dealership. Thanks

How long have you had your truck (and fobs)? I ask only because I recall reading one person had to replace the fob batteries about every 6 months. And I assume that was with keyless entry/start.

Yeah it’s been about 6 months but I’ve never used the backup. I’ll replace the battery’s and give that a try

Replacing the batteries can't hurt. If your truck has keyless entry/start, then every time you pull on the driver's door handle, your truck is communicating with your fob ... possibly both of them if they're both within range ... and the fob replies with a signal. Due to the more recent high-tech criminal methods of amplifying that wireless communication to enter and steal keyless start vehicles, I keep unused fobs in a Faraday pouch (RFID blocker). Doing such may lengthen battery life since my truck was manufactured in August '17 and both fobs are still operating OK, but I cannot confirm that to be true.

I seem to remember a thread theorizing that leaving the key FOB in the truck all the time and using the door key pad for entry and locking would allow the FOB battery to drain due to constant communication with the truck.
