is there anyway to tell if my truck has keyless entry. its a 1999 f250 xlt i thought that the keyless entry fob came standard on that truck, but wasnt sure. when i bought it the guy didnt give me a fob but i dont know if he just forgot to or what, but i just started thinking about it tonight.
Thanks
Lloyd
To tell if you have keyless entry, turn the ignition switch from off to on 8 times in 20 seconds ending in the on postion. The locks should cycle if you have keyless entry.
i don't believe the early 99 has the theft light like it doesn't have the cruise light, and yes the dealer can get you a key fob. if you have a salesman who happens to be a friend you can probably get the fob for nothing.
Well, I know my E-99 has the theft light but I've never checked to see if it turns on or not. My 95 with keyless would so I assumed this one would too.
I was wrong on my eariler post, the sequence is 8 times in 10 seconds, not 20. But anyhow if your locks cycle then you could pick up a remote on ebay for pretty cheap. That's what I did for my truck.
If your locks cycle... then... (copied directly from 1999MY Super Duty Manual) Programming Transmitters
To reprogram all transmitters, place the key in the ignition and turn from OFF to ON (Run) eight times in a row (within 10 seconds). After doors lock/unlock, press any control on all transmitters (up to four). When completed, turn the ignition to OFF. All transmitters must be reprogrammed at the same time.
Good luck! Also, I believe the "THEFT" light on the dash is only on PATS equipped trucks, which yours is definitely not.
Got it. So my 95, which did not have PATS, did have a factory anti-theft system. And it worked too I found out by mistake once. I would assume the SD would be similar maybe?
