Manifold sensor

Manifold sensor
We have a 2004, F-350 Super Duty, 6.0, Lariat, and the previous owner had done some minor modifications, such as; extra heavy duty positive battery cable and alternator, a coolant filter and some other modifications that don't affect the running of the truck. So my question is I had been installing and extra light on the back and was running a wire through the fire wall on the drivers side along side of the cluster of wires, when I had noticed a silver wire (apparently two inside of it) that had run through there as well and is not connected to anything under the steering column in the cab side. There are two wires coming out of it with terminal wire connectors not connected to anything. So I followed the wire down in the engine compartment and it is in there like it is an aftermarket addition and connects to what looks like a sensor of some sort in the exhaust manifold on the underside of the engine. The truck is throwing no codes, no check engine is coming on, so I am not sure what this is for, or what it should be hooked up to? Like I said the wire is just loose and not in the cluster of wires like it would have come from that manufacture.
Any thoughts would be great.

Ok so I checked the thermocouple and it seems to be working, (no voltage when cold, voltage when hot), so I have been looking online for a pyrometer gauge and I was wondering do I have to buy the gauge for that particular thermocouple? So is there one out there for any type of thermocouple? If so I don't want to spend $$$, just something reasonable.
