Schrader Valve or not?

I have seen pics and posts about a Schrader valve on the fuel rail at the back right had corner of the 6.8 V10 engine.

However, if have a 2006 2V V10 and I ee no such valve in that location. In fact, I can see no Schrader valve anywhere on the either side of the fuel rails.

Is there a Schrader valve somewhere else or perhaps some other easy way of measuring fuel pressure on the 2006 2V V10?

I’ve had the same question over the years, but never suspected a fuel delivery issue, so I never pushed into it.

Ive seen members here talk about checking fuel pressure about a half- dozen times per month. So... I’ll be watching this thread.

The interesting thing about a van is you get a really close look at the back of the engine.

I see a fuel line coming from below the truck on the left side (probably from the fuel rail on the frame)

It goes into one of those Ford type spring lock connectors, and that goes to a small fuel block with two output ports with rubber lines connecting to each fuel rail and then that fuel pressure sensor is on top of the of this block.

Since the fuel pressure sensor is present (no fuel pressure regulator) it tells me this motor has the Ford returnless style of fuel system which uses the pressure sensor reading to vary the duty cycle of the pump. I suppose they did away with the Schrader valve because they assumed to computer could read the pressure through the sensor as easily as the someone could hook up a pressure gauge to the Schrader.

That said, my real goal in looking for the Schrader is to perform a fuel injection cleaning by disabling the fuel pump and running a chemical through the fuel rail while the engine is running.

To do this, I may need to insert a Schrader T adapter at the fuel line spring lock so that I can insert the cleaning chemical there.

This is all doable but I wonder if the Ford fuel system has a check valve somewhere after the fuel pump but before the pressure sensor? The presence of a check valve ensures the cleaning chemical stays in the fuel rail and doesn't go back through the pump into the tank.

The fuel pressure test port was eliminated when they went with the fuel rail pressure sensor and the FPDM system.

I believe there are setups that can connect inbetween the fuel line and that "block" - for real pressure testing, or potentially injecting what you want. But I don't know for sure.

Yes you can insert a testing device between the quick connects......but why, a good scan tool will log the pressures the sensor is reading.

AddING chemicals is not a effective as removing the fuel rail and injectors and ultrasonically cleaning.

$100 for cleaning and a couple hrs labor.

Sensors can and do go bad

Yes I agree.
Sensors can be helpful and sometimes are the issue.

tell me about the place to get injectors cleaned please. My van is down for a few weeks now. Good time to remove the injectors and send them in.
You said you noticed an improvement after doing yours right?

The only way is to send them to a Delphi or Bosch Injection shop. Good place to start looking in your area is under "diesel injection rebuilders" most here do gas injectors. Another option is either get reman or new injectors. We use the United fuel injectors at work with no issues. They are a Bosch rebuilder.
