I have a '92 F150 5.0. Recently it ran great cold but after an extended run time acted as if starving for fuel under load. A couple of times it has died at a stop sign, restarted after a few minutes, and maintained its symptom. Last week it died and did not restart. Ignition tester says it's getting fire at the plugs. Recent parts replacements have been an ICM and fuel tank selector switch. I've jumped the test plug and I hear the fuel pump run. I'm running out of ideas. Anyone? Thanks in advance.
Run the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) tests and Stored Code (CM) display. List any codes by number and during which portion of the testing they were displayed. Check the fuel pressure at idle, at idle with the vacuum line removed from the fuel pressure regulator and again under load.
Thus far I've only used the rear tank. When I replaced the tank switch I tried the front tank. The fuel gauge pegged beyond full and the engine died immediately. Put it back on the rear tank and it ran. Unable to do a Key On, Engine Running when it won't start. Engine spins over as normal, just won't start. (??)
Looks like the computer has not failed with some of the common modes. Now you are back to fuel. Since you state you are getting spark you could try spraying some fuel or starter fluid in the intake then crank it over. If it fires up then you know it's fuel related. Then you need to check fuel pressure.
