I have a 2017 F-350 6.7L Lariat with BLIS installed. Recently I noticed that the dash indicator says that BLIS is off when I hook up the trailer. I've tried deleting the trailer and re-entering the trailer specs but when I try to activate BLIS it says no conventional trailer defined although when looking at the active trailer definition it is still checked. BLIS has worked in the past when trailering and the only changes I've made is to update Sync 3 to version 3. It is not a critical issue as I always double check the mirrors when maneuvering, but I paid for it and expect it to work.
I think that’s normal. I take that message to mean that the system won’t detect someone crossing your path while backing up. However while I do get that message when hooking up a trailer, the actual blind spot notification works as described. Doesn’t the yellow indicator in your mirror illuminate when someone is near the back of your trailer? Mine does.
There is an indicator light on the dash display that says BLIS is off and no light comes on in the mirror when traffic is in the blind spot zone. When I try to turn BLIS on in the towing screen it says there are no trailer definitions for Conventional trailers. When I go to the active definition screen "Conventional" has the blue dot lit. When I try to add Conventional, the system says that all settings for the conventional trailer will be deleted.
Mine was behaving similarly, but I was able to correct it. I messed with it until it worked, and it was some combination of:
Add a second trailer (conventional) from scratch.
Add a second trailer (5th wheel) from scratch, and then change to conventional.
Change your current trailer to 5th wheel (disables BLIS), and then back to conventional.
I don't know which one fixed it, but now with conventional trailer the BLIS is enabled. Wish I knew the exact answer for you, but keep messing with it.
Go into settings, all the way to the right on the dash display, then all the way down below "advanced setting" and look for trailer blind spot. make sure the box is checked. Mine will at time get unchecked and I have to re check it.

Bingo!!! I found the box unchecked. I have no idea what caused the settings to change.
