No Start after servicing fuel filter bowl

So in thought I had an easy project replacing the leaking drain valve on my fuel filter. I removed the assembly and replaced all of the o-rings. Heating element had an exposed wire but was running fine.Replaced all of the o-rings while it was out . All went well put everything together and the truck started and ran for 30seconds and shut down. I double checked for a blown fuse #30 heating element all good. Plenty of fuel in the housing but nothing just cranks. Dont know what it could be was running great and double checked the 2 things I thought it could be but no luck

Disconnect the fuel bowl heater just for the hell of it, and replace fuse 30. Just replace the fuse regardless.

Okay pulled the standpipe out again just for the heck of it and put another new fuse in #30. Between the two it fired up and is running normal. Although the fuse looked fine it was bad after checking it , thanks for the do it anyway tip.
Thanks for your help Denny and Sous

You are welcome and we are glad you got it going again. Fuses can be very misleading with a visual inspection.

I learned this the hard way back in my early Outside Plant Telephone Service days.

Curious because I had to check mine recently...How does one properly test a fuse without load? Are you just checking for continuity?

Msgt THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. I ALSO WAS IN THE USAF BUT STUPIDLY I GOT OUT AT 10 YEARS, WAS ON F 4s at Spangdahlem A.b. Germany and then went into Recruiting and loved it became the top Gold badge for state of Michigan. And 1 of top 10 in the group. I've never been the same since I left and it's been 30504 years.
It was my Honor to Serve as I know it was yours !

Thank you for your service as well Bill.

We all make decisions that sometimes impact our lives forever. I trust you found your path after leaving the service.

I have been to Spangdahlem AB many times. I flew into there for the 1st time while traveling to my first deployment to Dhahran in 1996. Sadly, I was there during the Khobar Towers bombing.

I can still remember going to the commercial side of the airport and seeing the Mercedes taxis, as a young 19 year old man that blew me away. We had a small hotel room downtown where they served goat milk with breakfast and the van taxi driver was doing over 100 MPH to get us there.

I am smiling a bit now as I am remembering some of the events. That is where I had my first hefeweizen and kristalweizen... The SNCO's I was traveling with got a chuckle out of me ordering a beer for the first time legally. Thank you for that trip down memory lane.

It was an honor to serve and I don't regret one moment of it, but it was a tough life and continues to be tough some nights.

@Bill Boudreau , take care of yourself and if you are ever in the north GA area, let me know. I would be honored to shake your hand and thank you in person.
