so yesterday i change my fuel filter and didnt know there was a drain plug so i got fuel all over. so while cleaning up the fuel i realize i have a broken wire going into the driver side of the fuel bowl im thinking its the water sensor but im not sure. so i crimp it together and then spray down the engine to get rid of the rest of the fuel. then i start the truck but i dies after about ten seconds and now it wont start. the fuel filter and water in fuel lights come on, but the glow plug light doesnt. this should have been a two minute job but know it has turned into a two day job, please help i got work and school and its my only mode of transportation and i dont know what o do anymore. thanks blake
did you re fill the filter bowl?
they have to have fuel to run. I always fill with powerservice and I only change fuel filters on a warmed up engine so re starting and purging the air is easier.
if you didn't fill the fuel bowl you will either have to open it back up and fill it or crank the starter for a LOOOOONG time.
The wire you spliced back together was prob the wire for the fuel bowl heater the heater inside the bowl screws up and blows a maxi fuse under the hood fuse #22 I think this will not allow your truck to start bet your heater is dorked and someone just cut the wire cut the wire again or disconnect it from the filter housing and replace 30A fuse it is under the hood

Reason: forgot to say
yea thanks i replaced that fuse and it started right up after i disconnected the wire. never thought that a small fuse would keep my truck from running.
Ok so obviously the fuel bowl heater is self explanitory, but what are the advantages of having the fuel working? does it get better gas mileage, more power what? and how hard is it to replace? thanks blake
the fuel bowl heater keeps the fuel in the filter from jelling in extreme cold temps, most fuel is now winter blend (cut with kerosene) so it must be much colder to jell.
