The metal piece in bj's pic appears to me to be a repair patch for the cab mount area . My floor is solid and there doesn't appear to have been anything removed from the area as I'm sure the metal section would have had to have been welded .

No that piece is not a repair patch, it's a part of the complete mounting system....it is a re-enforcing plate that fits up tight to the floor
Hard to tell how high that is without seeing from the side , but it's starting to make sense why the PO had a huge stack of washers in there . Are the plates with washers " they appear to be spot welded already " available separately or am I back in manufacturing mode ?
That little dog leg fits the contour of the floor pan..
Well I guess I'm in build mode then . Don't want to wait the week's it will take to get them or pay mid fifty's shipping and I have new rubbers . I will have to guess at the thickness , as they say a little space between , needed and leave it a little low " much easier to shim up " later . It is one of " little " things that add hours to something that really should take minutes . It's a good thing we're having fun .
They say a little space , does it fit tight to the floor John ?
It goes tight against the floor bottom, if there was a space the weight of the cab would squeeze it tight and so would the nut and bolt. I'm sure the purpose of it is to add strength to a stress area..
Ya thats my analysis of it . It does make me wonder what I will run into later as the PO had an 1 1/2 " stack of washers but the hood and hinges were mangled when I got it so there is no way of knowing how the front end alignment was .
I know this is anolder Thread, i stumbled over that problem, i could open a new Thread, but i searched the Forum and i think it doesn´t matter open a new Thread or revive this one.
Ebear how do you have solved that issue?
in some Cataloque pictures it looks like the lower small rubber pad belongs on top of the wing below the retainer. On other pics it says the lower small rubber pad belongs underneath the "wing" !?
Since it is years ago when i took my Truck apart i´m not sure, but i mean to remember underneath the wing was a just square 2x2" rubber and just a washer. The lower small rubber pad was above the wing underneath the retainer.
If that lower small rubber pad belongs underneath the wing than there is nothing between retainer and wing? Metal on metal (Retainer directly on the Wing) is not a good idea, it will cause corrosion and noise.
Other than that i would say the lower small rubber pad doesn´t fit really well underneath the wing...
