I ended up cycling it more to get it to start and it ran a couple seconds and died. So I cycled more then, it seems to run fine, just the pump seems to be louder than normal. There is a buzz under the hood near the filter when I shut it off, but it seems like I have heard that before.
Do you think you're just paying attention to it now that you changed the filters? Like, it's always made the noise but you never paid attention because what for? That's what I'm thinking...
I suspect that you didn't get the filter installed correctly and it is sucking air. I would redo the installation carefully checking the o-ring and such.
Ok, so I had a helper screw the housing back on and as it turns out it was one turn shy of being screwed all the way on. So yes it was sucking air, but I can't believe it didn't leak. Live and learn. Thanks to everyone for your ideas.
