Ok so I got the cluster swapped out and now the when you turn the key on it beeps and no it not the door chime it beeps 6 times then stops for 15 seconds or so and repeats it self for 2-3 minutes. anyone have any ideas?
Sounds like you have installed a different year cluster and the airbag modal is beeping as it does not see the airbag lamp in the cluster.
92 and 93 clusters are P&p
94 and 95 plug and play
96 up are their own.
The wiring between the cluster years are different and that causes these problems.
The beeping is a minor issue, most times your alternator WILL NOT function and you will have a dead battery! The battery light in the cluster is part of the charging circuit, and with wrong connections, no way for alternator to get its energizing feed. You can repin your wire harness on your truck, but that will cause issues again if swapped back to correct year cluster.
Best thing is to swap out the speedo/PSOM into your cluster, those are all plug and play for all years. You can even use the E-series van speedo/PSOM too.
On left is a E-series Van speedo , right is F-series pickup
well Eddiec1564 the truck is a 1995 and I swapped in a 1994 cluster but the air bag light bulb was burnt out. It took a few minutes for the module to read that I fixed the bulb but once it did it stopped the beeping.
That is totally not possible. The ONLY way to reset a PSOM is rewrite the EEPROM with good data. That involves some special home brewed hardware and software(Pony Prog) to read and write a EEPROM. That can all be found on the net.
When my 95 E350 bus PSOM(speedometer) wacked out, I was able to pull the mileage and tire ratio from the EEPROM and put it into another EEPROM and PSOM.
Here's the PSOM, the 8pin ic just left of the big flat pack IC is the EEPROM. I removed the EEPROM and put a socket in so I can swap EEPROMs out without (un)/soldering them.
Howdy good Sir! I posted a thread about my psom not working:
