I'd like to mount my Tekonsha P3 brake controller somewhere, but I'm not sure where would be best.
I think the bottom of the center console is sloped upwards too much. I thought it has to be closer to horizontal than that.
I'd REALLY like to have a pocket like my P2 had and slide it into the cubby where the upfitter switches would normally go.
Anybody have any creative mounting solutions for a brake controller?
You don't have a cubby hole to the left of the ashtray? That's where mine is on my 2001. Had it there in my prior '00 too.
You're talking about the cubby hole where the upfitter switches would normally go, right?
Underneath the 4x4,defrost,rear parking radar switches and to the left of the cup holders.
Yep, that's the spot. I drilled a hole in the back, ran the cable through it, removed the rubber tray and used adhesive Velcro on the bottom of the P3 to secure it to the bottom of the cubby. Slots in nicely and is within easy reach if I have to engage the trailer brakes manually.
I and a lot of other folks have mounted theirs here. I don't have a pic of mine. The bracket allows enough pivot to get it relatively close to parallel, but still sloped a bit. The P3 works just fine on any angle, according to the instructions, along as it is facing the correct forward direction and not slanted side to side.
What is that attachment to your lower console? I've considered doing the F650 center dash mod and putting it in there somehow.
Started off as a 3 gauge pod. A little fiberglass work, a Dremel tool and it now hold brake control, trans temp gauge, and XM Radio head. 3 push buttons are for future lighting usage. I tried to use only 3M body panel tape to hold it on but it gets too hot inside and it kept peeling off so I did have to use 2 screws, one on each side and now its holding just fine.

my P3 is mounted as shown and it works perfectly. I use it with my Big Tex 14TL-20BK tilt bed equipment trailer 20’. Installation was very simple since I also purchased the 3035-P wiring harness.
