Torquing the injector bolts should be no problem. My main concern is torquing the lower back 2 fuel rail bolts. Those things are a total bear to get to.

I got number 3 injector out. It was a T40 for the injector hold down. I think it was somewhere in the later 2006 MY builds they changed to T45. My truck was actually built in 2005 as a 2006 model.

Speaking of which anyone know the injector hold down bolt thread size/pitch? I would like to chase it with a tap.

Also I have conflicting info on the torque for the fuel rail bolts. I have 20 lb-ft or 10 lb-ft. Which one is correct?

Torque sequence is 9 4 1 5 8
...........................7 3 2 6

On oil rail forgot to add that.

Thanks. Number 7 is out. This one is going to suck to clean the bore and to get the injector back in.

Well I am pretty sure number 3 was replaced before. It looks newer/different then the other three. Also the stand pipe was waaaaay over tightened and so were all the fuel rail bolts. There is no way they were torqued to 10 lb-ft.

Number 3 up top and number 7 on bottom.

So how do my holes look?

Number 3

Number 7

And finally what do you think about my nipples?

Nipple cups look good . Be sure to look at #1 and #5 top “0” ring. Injector bores look good.

Thanks a bunch Tideman! I'm normally not this mechanically insecure but this is my first time doing 6.0 injectors and I would like to get it right. I don't mind opening this thing up again to do number 1 and 5 but I will be irritated if I screw up and have to replace number 3 or 7 again.

Also my wife happen to notice my presence (a rare event BTW) while I was writing the previous post and looked over my shoulder. She didn't find my holes and nipples joke very funny. She rarely appreciates my humor. I don't blame her.

My wife thinks I have a strange sense of humor. . I guess it’s in “The Book” that their mothers give them at an early age. #1 is watch your husband and if he appears happy and content “screw with him” can’t have him getting complacent . I’m going to write a book some day. Tomorrow is my 39th anniversary. Still happy and content

Make sure you blow the oil out if the hold down threaded holes or the fastener will torque early due to compressing the oil and later it will end up loose then your injector will lose seal against the combustion chamber and one thing after another. I used an inspection mirror and air hose blow gun with the small tip.

Right before I installed the injectors I blew out the injector bore and hold down hole with something like this. I hit with about 125psi for 20-30 seconds. I'm wondering now if I should have used a needle blow gun on the hold down holes.

I also realized I forgot to inspect #1 and #5 top O-ring. I put the fuel rail on and bolts in but haven't tightened anything anything down yet. Wondering now if I should pull it back off and take a look at the O-rings.

Chances are you’re good!!! Put it back together and fire it up. For the first few cranks I’d use the jumper wire on the passenger side fender to build oil pressure.(It’ll keep the strain off your FICM) Keep the batteries charged! Some will fire off after 3 or 4 30 second cranks some 10 to 12. Also saw that you had old style standpipe without the teflon washer. Glad you replaced that

That’s what I used to blow the holes out and a little led flashlight in my mouth and an inspection mirror to be able to see to get the nozzle in the back holes. When you use the starter wire to crank the truck pull the FICM relay so you are only priming the oil system. Once you cycled the starter three or four times for 20 seconds with a minute rest in between you can put the FICM relay back in and cycle the key on and off a few times to make sure your fuel system primes.
You better check everything while you are in there. Nobody wants to remove all the parts again to access the injectors and wear out the fasteners. Do it once and be done! I replaced all my nipple cups and o-rings with an upgraded set from HHC.
I rebuilt all my injectors and ended up buying a new set of 175/30’s from Holder’s because my injector bodies were worn past tolerance and causing leaks and rough idle. She purrs like a tiger now.

FICM relay doesn't need to be pulled when using the starter wire. The whole point is to leave the key off when you use that wire, so the relay is out of the loop.
Good advice however if you are not using the wire to prime.
