Towing a small RV from Houston to Spokane Washington. Just left WFalls and the ABS light came on solid. Checked codes on the edge CTS but I got nothing. I expected a wheel speed sensor code or low fluid but none showed up. I've gotten wheel speed before but the ABS light was blinking not solid. Ideas?
Im 3 hours from ammirillo so everything would be closed by 11:15pm when I get in.
Shutting off then starting back up the light stayed on then shut off. Still need to know what it was, I've got 3 back to back runs Houston to Spokane planned. Texas is cake walk brake problems in the Cascades is not an option.
Spring time (rain) and 7% grades are death. I've lost trailer brakes coming down a 6% in the rain m out of Portland and a 30ft boat came around on me.
In the time it took to type this light came back on. FML
I take it what your using to read won't read ABS correctly.
Quick thing to try. On the back of each front wheel well liner is the plug for
the wheel speed sensors. Unplug and plug back in to see if that clears the code.
Loss of ABS will leave you with brakes but not a function ABS and I would bet
also that it will cause issues with the trailer brakes.
What are you using to read for codes? Some tools will only read engine type codes.
I'm using the edge insight monitor. It's pulled the wheel speed sensor code in the past when the speeding weirds out. so I know it's not that and I've had no speedo issues.
I shook the fluid resivour while filling up and it hasn't come back on. Not sure if coincidence or not. I'll look for the plugs to the sensors and check for bad wiring.
The speedomter signal come from the read dif sensor.
I have in the past had a truck that when the ABS light comes on
and the code if for a wheel sensor had to go and unplug and then
plug it back in. That is a very low voltage circuit and it only takes a
tiny amount of crud in the connector to mess with it. Unplugging
and then reinserting the plug will clear away any layers that have
formed on the pins.
