ABS light is on but no error codes

I have 2000 F-150 and last week ABS light came on. I got a code reader but it shows no errors (code reader does show engine stats).

Does anyone know why would ABS light be on if there are no error codes reported?

Thanks,

Vadim

If you have just a generic engine code reader, it will not be able to access your abs system.

Most basic thing to do, check to see if your brake fluid level is low, my 98's ABS light would come on with low brake fluid level.

You may also have a bad wheel sensor, you can check these by hooking a volt meter up to the sensor, spinning your wheel to see if it generates a signal.

I got ElmScan 5 Compact with OBDwiz software. From what I understand, it should show all codes, including ABS. And yes, I did check brake fluid level.

Actually you are correct, I would need different software to access ABS codes: ScanTool.net LLC - ScanXL Ford Enhanced Diagnostics Add-on - OBD Software - ScanTool.net ;(
