OK so the time came to upgrade the rear brakes on the 49F1. So when i was over in the USA in March i paid a visit to Summit in Sparkes where i got a SSBC conversion kit. Was going to post it back to the UK but didnt get around to it so split the package and repacked it into mine and my wifes hand luggage to carry on the plane. Any way. finally got around to fitting it last weekend and apart from having to spin about 5mm off the drive shaft flange this was an easy kit to fit and what a novelty it is to have positive braking. Would thoroughly recomend this conversion kit if your looking to up grade from drum brakes.
I also got a B&M oil cooler for the newley rebuilt Th400 trans which is doing a great job.
Next weekend is to fit the block hugger headers which also came back as hand luggage.
I replaced the whole brake pedal assembly earlier in the year with a new booster and master cylinder as I knew I was going to do this conversion back then. So fire wall mounted booster and master cylinder all set for discs.

Huh. SSBC rear disc kit and no real installation hurdles? Hard to believe. You're one lucky dude.
I used to be a hands-on General Manager for a major aftermarket suspension manufacturer.
I have over 20 years experience with their rear disc stuff. Their kits in general are "concepts" which
usually require redesign by the installer...... and a lathe, MIG, TIG, end mill, drill press, rotary table,
band saw, etc. I've never considered SSBC stuff to be "bolt-on" by any stretch of the imagination.
Like I said 194ev apart from having to spin the hubs down all was straight forward. I must admit I was expecting loads of grief but was very pleasantly surprised.
