Good afternoon...Axeracer has convinced me that the stock front axle will be adequate for my needs and skills. I am going to upgrade to front disc brakes and a duel master cylinder....undecided on power brakes or not. What set up are you guys using and what company did you purchase from....are you satisfied? I know there is one company that is " NO BUENO" but I can't remember which one. Want to do this just once. Thanks
I used the speedway front disc brake conversion kit (about $279) and CPP under floor booster/master. I'm not driving my truck yet, but it all went together nicely. I did opt for the remote reservoir kit from CPP and bought a remote reservoir on ebay - but I did it more for fun than necessity.
I will check out Speedway. I should have mentioned the PO changed the pedal configuration so I will have the duel master cylinder on the firewall.
The speedway kit will be the way to go if you don't want to source all the parts by yourself (seems that breaking down the parts individually isn't a whole lot cheaper). You can buy just the brackets and bushing for about $100, but I would go for the whole kit if it doesn't break the bank. Now is the time to go for it as I think it's free shipping for cyber Monday. I bought mine when they had a $7.99 flat shipping rate going on.
I guess I'm assuming you have a '53-'56 F100 and that you want to keep 5x5.5" bolt pattern. You might want to order new kingpins from speedway while you're at it.
