Hello All. I am new to the Super Duty world. I bought my first 6.7 last month, making the switch from Duramax. I am attemting to add overhead clearance lights, but I am struggling with finding the correct parts, and several dealers in my area are having the same issues. In particular, we are struggling trying to decipher the wire harness. Possibly its already in place? For clarification, crew cab lariat with sunroof/sirius radio. I am hoping someone out there can help with this as I would prefer to stay with OEM and not go aftermarket. (Yes, I have been searching the forum for weeks)
Here is what the dealer stated I needed, but they were very clear that they are not sure this is correct or complete:
-(3) HC3Z 15442 E LAMP ASSEMBLY
-(2) HC3Z 15442 F LAMP ASSEMBLY
-(2) HC3Z 15B484 AB WIRE ASSEMBLY
Yes, I do have the lamp screw and nut on order as well. You may be right, because the (2) wire assembly parts are listed as jumpers. Any advice on removing the headliner before I go hacking away at it?

- pull the front part of the headliner down and check.
also looks like you need the lamp screw W507169-S450B and nut W712852-S300
the harness is not there I believe there is a thread on installing the lights and it has the harness number.I used recon cab lights and there harness which iirc was a ford harness
The thread I found that indicates that is where a guy had factory clearance lights and swapped to Recon white clearance lights. From what I can tell the Recon lights plugged into his existing harness and he never even dropped his headliner. I’m going to call Recon tomorrow and ask them about their harness and compatibility. I’m assuming you have a sunroof, did your harness plug into a plug on the passenger side A pillar?

I am not sure where but there is one of the install on a truck that had no lights. My truck is a lariat crew cab with sunroof I installed them myself and yes the wire harness runs down the passenger side under the trim there is some cotton stuffing at the base of the a pillar remove it and the connection is there
OK so I've got the lights and the Recon wire harness. One thing that surprised me was that on the Recon harness, one end just had 2 bare wires for tapping into the truck. I had assumed that it would have a plug on that in so I could plug it into the existing plug on the passenger side A-pillar. Does anyone know which Ford plug I need to purchase so it will be plug and play into my truck rather than tapping in?
I talked to Recon today and he said they do make a harness with the plug. However, he was adamant that if my f250 did not come from the factory with clearance lights that I would not have the plug in the a-pillar and I would have to splice. This contradicts what I’ve read on here. Looks like I’m going to need to go into the pillar tomorrow to see if I have the plug or not.

Update for anyone doing adding the clearance lights, Recon was wrong and the information on the forum was correct, there is a plug for the clearance lights behind the passenger side a pillar. I initially couldn’t find it, but there is a piece of foam padding that you pull out and the plug is hiding under there.
Tomorrow is the big day. Installing the clearance lights. Any final advice, from someone who has done this on making sure the lights sit square? I plan on measuring each corner of each recrangle to get it as square as possible and a dremel to cut. I got the measurements from another post on this forum.
One thing that helped when I did it was to use masking tape on the entire front area of the cab above the windshield (working area) so I could mark lines, center marks, perpendicular lines, measure/remeasure and mock everything up before I committed to cutting. Thats all I got. Good luck!

GOOD LUCK! Its a daunting task for sure. Pull headliner, tape, measure, beer....measure again, stare, beer...repeat until you have the courage to cut the holes in your new truck. Certainly worth it in the end.
didnt have any concrete measurements when I did mine but was still happy with results.
Slow going, but 3 of 5 holes cut. Without issue so far. I’ve got Loctite marine sealant/adhesive to secure the lights. Says it’s ok for metal surfaces and even underwater applications. Is the consensus to pull the paper off of the gasket exposing the adhesive on the back of the light and apply my adhesive directly to that?
