Why would non-moonroof trucks not have the same structural brace?
The Recon aftermarket lights look exactly like the previous generation of roof lights...except with LED lights.
I actually preferred that look - the lights were bigger. But I think those lights actually screwed into the roof, with a small center round hole for wiring.
Skiline - does your truck have the moonroof? It looks like I can just make out the moonroof wind deflector popped up on your truck.

Im not sure on the structural supports, but mine does have the moonroof.

They probably don't need it due to not having the giant hole for the moonroof cut out. Either that or they located a brace in a better position than so close to the front on the non moonroof trucks.
From what I was told. the non vista roof trucks have different structural supports side to side and also front to back in the middle. I saw the diagram when I was at the dealer body shop. From what it looked like, again it was a diagram, there was room to get a square greenlee punch to the light locations.
Any chance on getting some details: How were they installed, what problems surfaced, do the lights on your truck, are they the RECON LED for the '99-'16 F SD?
If you don't know how about the name of the shop that did the work, I'll call them...
I contacted tech support at RECON and they confirmed these will work on a ’17 based upon the many they have done and are being done (about 5 per day) he said. I also asked about the support beam on the Vista roof models, he said they move the lights forward on the cab to get around it.

Yes sir, they are listed for the '99-'16's. The shop was APE Offroad in Lewisville , TX. I'm not sure all the issues that they ran into but I'm sure they can fill you in. He just told me that it took a LOT longer than he thought it would. I think a lot of it was the guy making sure they were all straight and looked right. He said he looked at it for almost 45 minutes building up the nerve to drill holes in the roof. haha!

OK, thanks, will give them a call, not familiar with them in Lewisville, they weren't around when I lived there.

Your truck looks great! Looking at the photo I thought it looked like you were in Texas. We lived in Flower Mound for a few years. Miss that state and the FOOD!

Thank you very much..
We're in frisco, only 20 minutes or so from Flower Mound.. Small world! Going out of state will definitely make you appreciate the food here..
After more research and speaking with the the shop that did Skill's truck, his recommendation was to wait on RECON or find a another vendor that has the electrical plug and play connection. It was the electrics that gave them a real challenge and took so much time to sort out.
I don't think the Ford lights are the way to go due to the 'square hole' approach and the bar that runs under the roof if you have the Vista roof or sun hatch or what that thing is called...
So for now at least my project is on hold until RECON can provide a '17 solution...
