66 Dash Pad?

Anyone have a source for a dash pad for a 66? I’ve only been able to find non factory color variations/custom pads. Looking for original black.. have searched LMC, Macs, and a few others to no avail.

Does your's have a dash pad now? My '65 is painted, my '66 has the pad and I think I'm going to delete it. I like the painted dash with the chrome strip better.

I think I have a dash pad with the top and bottom trim pieces. I have to look at the condition of the pad. Might need to recover it.

IT is a custom cab, it has a chrome strip that is identical to the one on the '66 with the dash pad, but without the pad.

I kind of agree, I deleted my dash pad a long time ago when it started cracking. Never did like the padded look anyway. I do like the painted look with the SS trim.

I did see a padded dash on ebay, a few months back but they were asking $350 W/O trim. It had some major cracks. Wonder if the same person has some swamp land for sale.
Seems to me that you could have a custom one made for less than DC wants for his. O Well.

Check to see what Just Dashes (justdashes.com) is asking for the padded dash.

Carpenter and etc. repro parts sellers aren't reproducing it, they are buying it from somewhere and Just Dashes (Van Nuys CA) is probably the place.

I had every intention of replacing the dash pad on my '66. But after getting it back from the painter, I just couldn't put the glue on it, plus the expense. I like the look of the painted dash. To each it's own.......

Rich - the clear plastic Transmission Control Dial Selector on top of your steering column that shows what gear the automatic is in - did you reuse your original? If not where did you locate one? The top of mine was looking OK but as I opened it up the two holes where the screws go through on the inside were cracked, had fallen apart and some of the pieces were missing in action. I recovered all the pieces I could and carefully reconstructed what I could from those. Then I cut some other plastic that I had and made the missing pieces (right side in the photo). I still need to smooth it a little more and then I'm going to attempt to make a two piece mold out of it and pour myself a new one. I've removed the white paint in the letters so it doesn't interfere with the mold.

Here you can see it in the third hand - showing the cracks in the one better and the other (left in this photo) is half my own making - I did need to use a magnifier to see the thing close enough since my eyes are not getting any younger....lol

Chad,
I used the original. I broke the screw holes also, (or they were broken) but had the parts and glued them back together. Then used a washer on the screw to hold it together better.
