I'm sharing this info since it took me years to find the root of my 94 E-250 problems that I am pretty sure also happen to F series regardless of engine. Long story short: Engine stumble while accelerating, no codes, disconnecting the VSS made the problem go away but I lost the speedo and the trans shifted hard (which was way better than putting up with the stumble. I just came across this video about the EEC. I highly recommend that you check your EEC if you have this problem. I changed the capacitors in my EEC and all issues are gone.
There are many mentions of this in threads here. I have wondered what those capacitors do? Usually when I see a circuit like that I think it is a power supply of sorts. I wonder if it is the source of power for sensors or actuators or just the chips on the board or what?
We see a lot more problems than solutions. Thanks for the post and the link.

When I got my 94, I had the same issue and codes were present about solenoid and connector. I replaced them and the truck still was not fixed. So I had the transmission rebuilt by a mechanic friend of mine that has a partner in the transmission business. The truck was still doing the same thing as before. I pulled the computer and the capacitors were exactly like the one in the above video. So I bought another computer and it shifts like butter now. So, had I seen this video first I might could have saved around 2 grand. I don't know if the tranny needed to be rebuilt or not and never will. Showing fixes and solutions is great for all and I agree with you HardScrabble. Sandy
