Another mod that is both good and helpful and a noise reduction is the H&H mods, some of the noise is from not enough fuel getting in to quiet things down, my 7.3 was pretty loud, but when I did the H&H mods I can go through drive throughs and actually talk to the people instead of having to shutdown the truck just so they can hear me, I would suggest that for your truck if not already done
7.3's are loud, that's their nature. All the aforementioned mods add some minor dba reduction but don't expect dramatic results. Tuning can make a large difference. The door seal mod was a good one and helped. I recently replaced the steering column seal with the newer double seal version (2C3Z-3D677-AA) and this made a noticeable improvement also. Last would be to apply sound absorption matting/etc to the interior but I'm not up for that level of effort. It is good enough as is.
I've been wanting to get one of those but every one that I find says it fits 2002+. I have a 2000.
I hot torqued above spec last summer, H&H in fall/winter, and installed FRx this spring.
Each mod reduced the engine noise by probably 30% each time.
I've had many passenger's randomly bring up how much quieter it runs now without any prompting from me.
Give em a shot, in that order if costs are a concern, hot torque is free, just takes some time tho
I hot torqued recently and have the FR-X, steering shaft seal is on order and I have a Riff Raff H&H kit waiting to go in... as soon as I run the tank dry!
