im goin to get some headers soon, and im lookin to get something a cheap but something that will not warp or have me changing gaskets all the time.i was lookin at the Hedman headers, anyone have any experience with them on there FE.or anyother names that arent too spendy, anything helps...thanks Sean
I have a set of Hedman headers on my 390 (recently rebuilt). One side does leak, but I don't think it's due to the headers, but due to installation instead. The other side does not leak at all and the side that does leak was leaking when I picked the truck up. They seem to flow well and I have not had any other problems with them. Just MHO. Doc.
I have a set of Dynomax on my '66. The fit was good and quality was fine. I would recommend whatever brand you get, surface the flange seal before installing. They are never real good from the factory and also use premium header gaskets. I like the Victor Nitroseal gaskets. About impossible to blow out and thick enough for a good seal.
i'm planning on getting some as well and i was just out looking at it, 68 f100 2wd with c-6, and i have the steering box that has the protrusion and i can see how if the hedders arent made just right it could cause some problems.
i'm assuming hedder choises for around 100 bucks ( about 120 or 130 for heddmans and 96 for dynomax ) are limited to these 2 brands.........i've read some bad things about the dynomax fit, then again it may have been a manufacturing freak of nature or the wrong part number..........i used to have a 71 f250 2wd c-6 and the hedders fit fine but i dont know what brand they were and i cant remeber which steering box the truck had.
does any one have any more comments on these hedders as far as fit is concerned??? also are the dynomax the same guage and flange thickness as the heddmans?? all coments appreciated...
oh and by the way.............i've seen hedders spelled 2 ways........from what i can see, hedder seams to be the spelling used most by the after market but it's common to wanna spell it header as well...........and one know the what the first original spelling was??? it's giving me a hedd ache...lol

I got a set of the headman elites part # 89810 I was disapointed to have paid over three hundred and they dint even come staight from the factory I took them to the local machine shop who wanted 80 bucks to get them true well that was too rich for my cheap ....... so I just cut them instead not as pretty but who cares.the install on the drivers side was a piece of cake but the passenger side was a pain had to remove the starter and raise the tranny to get enough clearnce to make them fit any way when all was said and done they sealed up fine and the coating was worth the extra money since they pass so close to the starter
