The other day, I open the passenger side rear door and heard this terrible scrape. Upon further examination, the leading edge of the back door was literally rubbing the edge of the front door, scratching the paint. Weird, as I've had this truck 3 months and thats never happened. The next day I looked at it in the daylight, and its no longer rubbing. WTF? We've been having our seasonal temperature swing of 40s during the day and 20's at night, so I was thinking the aluminum was expanding and contracting with temperature? But enough to close the gap and actually make contact? I'm less than pleased. I will probably have a body shop scoot the door back a hair to keep this from happening, but why is this a thing?? Anyone else have this happen?
Good call on the dealer. It's in the body shop now getting the rear bumper painted after a little love tap from a texter. But I'll hold off having them touch the doors. My first brand new truck and its getting chewed up quick! And what's with this paper thin paint nowadays??
When you noticed the door scraping, was it parked in a flat surface? If not, i wonder if the truck was flexing a bit. Still shouldn’t scrape, of course.
The number of complaints related to fit and finish (interior and exterior) on these trucks is baffling. As someone experiencing interior fit and finish issues, it is highly discouraging. Especially for being my first Ford, not a great first impression.
If the dealer has a body shop on site he will take it there and they will adjust it. If he doesn't have one, he'll take it off site to a body shop that he normally uses for the work. Most dealers usually wont let the mechs do body adjustments.

The fit and finish on my '18 has been quite nice. If you want to see some ugly fit and finish you should look at the new Ram trucks. I had full intention of going back to dodge when i sold of my '12 2500 cummins then i got the chance to go look at one and it was so bad that the interior panels still had burrs on it from the molds
Truck was on perfectly flat asphalt, so wasn't that. Im coming from a Ram too, and while initially happy with the new Ford, these problems are starting to add up and I am losing faith. With that said, Kendall Ford in Anchorage has been very helpful, even calling me several times after doing the door latch recall to see if everything was going well. The local Ram dealer never did that, and was literally the worst place I've ever dealt with. Of course, the doors are still not closing when frozen so it is going back to them on Monday to have it all looked at. Thanks for the guidance.
There was another poster here a month or two ago that commented he suddenly had a loud wind noise around his right front door. Seems the door somehow moved away from the weather strip. I never heard how this issue was resolved. Could these issues be caused by the door hinges?
