Fuel Additives?

Anyone routinely use any diesel fuel additives for your truck? This is my first diesel and would like to see what you're using and why.

This subject will cause more trouble on this forum than just about any other topic. I have used 1) nothing 2) stanadyne and 3) redline. I get reliably better mileage with Redline. And yes, I know people will disagree.

I've used Diesel Kleen Cetane Booster in all my diesel trucks.

In the winter I use an anti-gel additive until the service stations catch up - usually a tank or two starting at the first freeze. Beyond that I've never used an additive. I would like to start using Ford's cetane booster, but haven't gotten around to finding a source with a good price.

My Ford dealer has a better price than Amazon. Strange, but true!

You don’t want to use fuel additives that emulsify the water in the fuel. What happens is this damages injector tips and high pressure fuel pumps. So, unless your sure, best to use Ford PM22 or PM24, and drain your water separator regularly. Personally, I carry some antigen for when I am further south and not sure if the fuel is properly treated, but don’t after use it unless I am driving north and know I will come across a significant temperature issue. This really depends on the fuel quality and cetaceans rating your buying. YMMV.

I use Rislone every 5k miles - a good verified demulsifier but, then again I’ve never found water in my separator. It’s a good over-the-counter product @ O’Reilies.

Sadly, I haven't located a dealer in my vicinity that even carries the stuff. I may have to check with Tasca or one of the other online Ford vendors.
