Hey guys, been on the site for a while on the other truck year sections. I picked up a '15 last week and started looking around this board and noticed that there isn't as much posts about major mechanical issues like the 04-08 and 09-14 F150's. Im hoping that seems to be true. What are everyones thoughts?
These EB engines are very reliable even to its External water pump there have been a few Turbo failures
Now and again but not very often,You have the 6 Speed Trans that is bullet proof,I have the 10 speed that
all the bugs haven't been ironed out yet,But they will get better,I came from a 2014 EB with little problems
Enjoy owning a truck that has been Tried and True,Welcome to this Forum
Yeah...this forum is pretty quiet. The F150 platform has been pretty solid the last few years. If you want some excitement...check out the SuperDuty forum.....usually close to 900 people in there. LOL
Ya, I hung around the 04-08 for quite a few years while I had a '04 and a '07 and I did the write up on the IWE's , then I moved on to the 09-14 when I had a '12. Those two groups had quite a bit. And I guess as the vehicle groups get older the more activity comes down the line.
I just see it as if there isn't a lot of posts about issues, there must not be as many.

In spite of all the fear and trepidation about the EcoBoost and reliability, the reality has been that they are very reliable. You almost never hear about turbo issues, nor about crankcase/rod failures (which could be an issue with a boosted gas engine). There have been a few issues with the first generation cam phasers, and we have heard of a couple of issues with the new 10-speed. But overall, things are looking pretty good for this paltform.
Glad to hear it, I did have the cam phasers done on my '12, and it ran good, but I always had it in the back of my mind that it should run better, and now that im driving a '15 with the same motor and it runs so much better, im almost wondering if there was some sort of small issue with it somewhere.
I had a 2012 3.5 ECO with 0 problems and now have a 2015 3.5 Eco with 0 problems. About to move to a 2018 with 5.0, when it gets here the first week of April. I really do like my 2015 excpt when I go to haul something, I have never liked the 5.5 bed. So I the main reason I ordered the new pickup was for the 6.5 bed.

Ya, on this site it's pretty quiet about problems. On another I'm on, if I didn't know better, I'd think the 150 is nothing but problems. My '12 had zero problems. The '17 I had a problem with the 4X4 system, but took care of it myself at less than 500 miles, and zero problems with anything since.

I`d say most of the time a major issue gets blown way out of proportion than what it really is and by doing that, it sounds like any and all problems that come up affects a very large amount of people when in reality the number of people that are affected is very small.
