"Truck Month" Rebates

"Truck Month" Rebates
I have just gotten more active in my search for a new truck within the last couple of months and am leaning towards a Ford (I'm in Houston area). They are running tons of advertising for "Truck Month" and do have some fairly aggressive pricing on the F150 XLT right now. My timing is flexible- I could use the truck now but don't have to have one for a few months (teenager getting license and giving current car-I get new truck). All that being said this is a long-term purchase and so a few months here or there won't make a big difference in overall cost.
I like the Lariats but by the time you get an actual truck on the ground it's a bit above my budget (~$40k)- I've also noticed they aren't as deeply discounted as the XLTs right now. After all that, my question is whether the XLT factory rebates/discounts are traditionally this deep (around $11k+ off MSRP) or whether they really are doing extra/ above average incentives for the "truck month" specials like they say they are.
If I do decide on a Lariat for sure then I am going to wait but debating on whether the XLT is really that good a deal right now or if its just typical marketing hype and any time you look it's the best deals right then...
Here's an example

Figured this group would have best handle on real marketplace. Thanks

I looked at the window sticker on that truck. 302A and Sport packages. That’s as close to a Lariat as you can get. It’s not worth it to spend significantly more to get a slightly fancier truck. Lariats and up have less rebates than an XLT. That is a Very good deal and you may kick yourself with if you don’t buy it. You can wait until the end of the year, but selection dwindles by then and you’re less likely to find a truck you really like.
If you want leather, you can have it done aftermarket through Classic Soft Trim or Katzkins. Both are high quality and your dealer probably has a vendor that they deal with.

That is a good deal for sure. Another option you have if you aren't against it, is something I am looking at doing myself. I purchased a 2016 XL with the sport package, sliding rear window, etc., brand new and have since made it an XLT with all of my add ons. I still am not satisfied and want a Lariat with the leather interior and upgrades. I won't pay the new price for one, but have been looking for a pre-owned one and found a few great deals. I was dead set against that, but you can get a good deal on a low mileage one owner vehicle and even purchase an extended warranty (Flood Ford is the best place for prices and they are not aftermarket) and the truck is broke in and "it has depreciated several thousand dollars as soon as you drive it off the lot" thing doesn't apply. Usually if it is under 36K miles you can purchase an extended warranty and it really is reasonable. If I keep my current truck, next year I will buy an extended warranty and it will be a thousand less than if I had purchased it at the time I received my truck. People really get screwed buying an extended warranty with their purchase. Anyway, it may be harder to find exactly what you want, but it could be out there. You can pull up any Lariat for sale within a set distance from your location on Autotrader.com There are other places to look as well and all of the trucks I looked at were through a dealer. There are definite advantages to it, but there is nothing like a brand new vehicle, however, you do pay for it. Just depends on how you look at it. That my ramblings on the subject...
