I recently removed my '93 F-250's long bed in order to do extensive work on the fuel system. The bed's been off before for someone to do a hack install of a gooseneck hitch. The front two bed bolts came out easily, the middle two were missing entirely and I had to grind the heads off the rear two. So I'm looking for replacements - may use carriage bolts or the later-model bolts with Torx heads.
While it's off, is there supposed to be any kind of rubber isolator or bushing between the bed and the frame, or does it just fasten directly?
thanks.
Thanks! There are two of those still stuck to the frame where the middle bolts go. The front pair just behind the cab has two large thin steel washers, not sure if those were original. I may make replacements out of baler curtain or roll roofing (the smooth base layer, not the gravel top layer!)
Or just bolt it down. The truck is so noisy and a rough ride on the 2.5 miles of dirt road before I hit payment that I would never hear a "cricket" as mentioned in the linked thread
