Thanks. That’s what I found out this morning. I put a description of what I was looking for on the order. I got a call from TASCA about it. They cancelled my order since it was the wrong part. Great place to deal with.
Im going to do some more research since I now have the correct part number.
Not a problem. This is the actual part# . VHL3Z-14F642-A 15-17 F150.
I`m almost 100% sure that this is also for the SD`s because they share the same cab as the F150`s but the Fairfway Ford website doesn`t show it`s for the SD`s so if you call them or Tasca, you can verify.
The number for FairwayFord is 330-533-3673 ext 1438 or you can ask for Nate in the parts department.
The older "sync2" vehicles that have an installed modem are going to lose certain features as of November, one being the vehicle health report. Would need smartlink for that. Not 100% sure of any others feature loss yet, will see in November. Does any one kn ok w is Smartlink vehicle specific or can the obd adapter be swapped between cars.
I have a 2013 Fusion Hybrid and I heard we are going to loose the health report. I don’t have any idea about moving the adapter between vehicles. But I get the feeling that would not be possible since it appears they activate it when it’s installed.

I had no idea that Ford equipped older SYNC 2 vehicles with a built in "modem." I thought they first started to do that on certain 2018 vehicles equipped with SYNC Connect. I learned something new today.

From what i`ve read, once November rolls around, we`ll lose the Health Reports feature because the current FordPass software will be obsolete hence the reason to update to SmartLink. Also, once SmartLink is installed, there will be a new companion app/FordPass app that will be the same as 2018 vehicles equipped with SYNC connect.
I`m interested to know if the guys that have installed the Perimeter Plus and Remote Access systems will be affected when November rolls around.
I was assured by 3 in-the-know Ford dealers (one of them sold me the parts and another one activated it) that the third party company responsible for keeping the remote access service live has no plans to terminate the service. So we should be good!

My interest in this product would be the LTE hotspot. Is that possible in a 2017+ Super-Duty? There has to be a cellular modem with an external antenna. I don’t think there is one in a 2017 SD.

If Smart Link includes the SD, then the modem will plug into the OBDII port just like the F150`s and no, there is no external antenna.
