It may be worth checking your 4x4 u joints. Mine were rusted which caused binding in the steering, the truck would wander as if it had a mind of its own.
If the u-joints don’t flex correctly, they will cause the steering to bind.
To check steering components, have a helper turn the wheel back and forth just beyond the play. You’ll use a light and look at each tie rod end and and the pitman arm. There should be no slop at any of these connections.
