throttle cable

I just installed an Offy 6019DP intake and a set of split exhaust on my 81 F100 with a 300 six. I have a Holley 0-8007 4bbl on top of it. Obviously, the throttle cable needs significant re routing. Before I reinvent the wheel, anyone else done this and can give suggestions on the throttle cable? Thanks, j66b.

If no one answers you could take a look in the six forum here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum52/ and see if you find out anything. Most of the time google searches this board better than the board's search engine.

I know there are a few guys with that setup that can help you over there.
Good luck

throttle cable update

Here you can see the Holley 0-8007 mounted on the Offy 6019. The primaries go toward the engine, so the throttle linkage is toward the rear of the vehicle, so you have to put your 1/4in linkage stud into the lower hole on the linkage. The travel of the stock cable and the length are just right, but you have to hold the cable about a foot away and at right angles to the original 1bbl setup.
Here's what I fabricated:
I replaced two of the valve 5/16 coarse cover bolts with 2, 2in set screws. I then found an old wheelbarrow with some stamped steel rear supports, and out of that material made a base, and fitted it to the set screws. I took the existing bracket, milled the slot longer, since it was about 2 in too high, and bent it to accommodate the existing cable. I milled slots in the base to allow for adjustment.
It took me most of a long afternoon to get it right: it's impossible to make measurements for the whole thing: I had to make the base and bolt it in, then set the bracket up and mill the slot to the proper length; then bend it to the proper angle so that the cable was straight; then mark the slots in the base to accommodate the bracket, then remove everything and do the milling, and then put it all back together. Somewhat tedious, but the price was right and it works flawlessly.
I used a 1950's vintage Bridgeport Mill (one of the best tools I ever bought: makes the impossible possible), I TIG welded the base.
I hope this helps others who are faced with this situation. j66b

YES thank you!
Most will come up with a fix and then never post what they did so it never helps others if they have the same issue.
Did you find that over in the 300 six area?

found it in my head

Dave: No, i did not. I never found anything meaningful anywhere, only meaningless comments about various Holley linkages with no description of how to use them. So, you are looking at a 100% original invention, made with just a few thousand dollars of simple hand tools....j66b

Since you are being so generous, I would be curious as to how it runs when you are all done. If you have a split exhaust the whole way, I am wondering how that sounds also.

I will.

Frank: Of course I will. My friend just did the Clifford thing with two Webers. I am going, as you know, to do the Holley 4bbl, Offy DP, and split exhausts. We are then going to compare and post the results: driveability, MPG, etc so that those who succeed us can know better what to do. That's the name of the game, after all. JB

LOL that was good! I guess it would be a few $$ when talking Bridgeport & TIG machine.
On not finding anything over in the six area I don't read much if they are swapping on a v4 carb as I don't plan on going that route with mine but I do know guys there do run them.
