I've got a 53 f100 with 215 and 1904 carb. It has never had a throttle cable that is operated from the dash for as long as I have had it. I have the hole in the dash for it, but I see no place on the carburetor to attach it, if I bought one. The only place that I see for any cable is the choke (which I have always had.) Where does the throttle cable attach? Maybe my carb has a linkage for a car and not a truck? I am also a bit puzzled as to how a cable connection would permit free movement of the linkage from the pedal. I do not see anything in the Shop Manual that answers my questions.
Thinking some more about my throttle arrangement--I believe the bigger lever that the cable attaches to should be positioned ahead of the other smaller lever in the picture. I would think the bigger lever with the cable needs to pull back on the smaller lever for the throttle to open independently of the foot feed.
Hope this pic helps. Shows the throttle cable hooked to the cable holder on the manifold and "ready" to pull the arm back against the lower arm to set the hand throttle. The lower arm is hard to see. It's the white dot half way down the arm that will grab it when the cable is pulled.

The hand throttle on your 53 F100 would not have been stock. If your truck had one it would have been an option or special order. All trucks had the holes in the dash but those without it should have a chrome or shiny plug in the hole. Do you have a cigar lighter? If not then you should have a plug in that hole. If you do not want the hand throttle, Mid Fifty and others sell those hole plugs.

Thank you for this photo. I do not have these linkage pieces, and as Abe says, they didn't come with these trucks, so I never did. I have never missed not having a throttle **** or cable. I never had, as far as I can tell, a cigarette lighter either. It looks like I need two of the plugs for the dash. I have been considering using the cigarette lighter hole for a USB port if and when I do something about a sound system.
The 2C 9764-A is in the paper catalogs and listed for all 215/223 applications but not pictured that I can find. Parts Voice shows Green Sales has it so I'll call them Monday to order one and see if that's it. Stu
