Can I cut this piece out below the windshield and weld a new one in? Can I order just that piece? I’m pretty well set in my mind on doing a cab swap just wanted to get another opinion.
I don’t think the frame is bent. I bought this from my buddy who had just finished rebuilding everything mechanical when this happened. Slid off the highway and mowed over some lodgepole. I’m located up in western Montana
Anything's fixable if you want. If the rest of the cab is solid, fix it. You'll have to cut one off something else to replace it, I don't think it's reproduced. You could probably straighten out what's there and get it pretty close if it's not a show truck.
That is a main cab/firewall piece are you ready for some work? Big question is can you locate a parts truck/cab because that piece is NOT reproduced. Sad when that part gets a dent.
That piece is connected to ALOT of interior panel pieces. My buddies door hinge areas were rusted bad, so we hacked the replacement panels out of a parts cab...hard work for sure.
I'd say it's a parts truck, or do a cab swap. There is a lot of work to do there and a lot of things that need to align. Possible, yes. Worth it? not to me.
Thanks for the help guys. I talked to a friend last night about a 79 pickup he has that he’s willing to sell. That truck is a 4 speed which I was going to start sourcing parts to swap out the c6 in mine for a np435.
