After driving this for a full day I am glad they agreed to take it back. The transmission is shuddering so bad the bed shakes now during acceleration. I do think this is an isolated incident and I will be going right into another 2018 F150 with no concerns. I truly do appreciate Ford corporate for helping on this!

3rd time not fixed right and I’d be talking with a lemon law lawyer. Good to hear ford stepped up without you having to press it. Crazy that they didnt just put a new tranny and torque converter in the first time. Almost like the dealership service manager thought they would make more profit tearing it down. No matter how good of transmission guy they have, its a new design and everyone will lack experience repairing these for awhile. Most Mfgs just swap them out.

WOW!! That's totally terrible, but happy FORD is stepping up and take it back.

Good luck with the NEW replacement truck!!

Good to hear that you`re going to be made whole and Ford did the right thing. I hope your new F150 will be trouble free for the long haul.
In my opinion, this is a prime example of why an ESP should be considered before the factory bumper to bumper warranty expires.
Again, congrats on the new truck.

To anyone out there with issues, make sure to get them documented early on. I am learning a hard lesson! I have to pay a substantial mileage offset fee to off this truck. So remember don't wait because the mileage offset fee is from the mileage you first bring it in for the issue. So I have to pay 14,000 miles of use on the truck.

Man, just read about all your issues. Really sucks.

My 2018 F150 has transmission issues as well. I can't reproduce it, but it happens mostly under the same circumstances. Usually while accelerating, if I have to take the foot off the pedal for some reason right before it was going to shift, I sometimes get a loud clunk and the truck jerks. I have 7,000 Miles on it and it probably happened about 5-10 times so far.

I called the dealership and they don't seem very concerned. They gave me a service appointment 4 weeks out because "we only have one transmission guy and he can only do so much".

Mine seems to be okay. Some quirks, but I'm fed up with the mechanical noises, rattles, whines, etc. It sounds like a Chrysler mini van transmission, not an expensive truck. I do think the amount of driving modes is overkill, and it seems the transmission will never learn habits, unless you stay in one mode for hundreds or a thousand miles. Mine also knocks like knock sensors are on overtime, and the dealer said it's the poor fuel. After accidentally pumping 35 gallons of 93 octane in and running it 720 miles, nothing changed. Love the truck, but I think sometimes the over-tech is killing reliability and realistic seamless use.

But, let's be fair. In 2009 when the 6 speed made it's way into the F-150, it was quirky as all get out. Erratic shifting issues, etc.
so did the 2009 ever get an update and get fixed or were those guys that bought that year out of luck?

Wifes 2018 F150 5.0 10SP

@ Ford390gashog my wifes f150 is doing the same thing pull out of park loud bang from the rear . Changes gears oddly. sometimes slams into gear coming to a slow down then a quick acceleration . I see there is a TSB for a reflash of the firmware for the tranny . only 4,200 miles on it great truck until this crazy shifting . oh ya also there is a WHINE I can hear .

And what would the whine be? 😅

have you done the reflash? I’m thinking about doing it. The whine some say is a over pressurized problem but I haven’t seen that from ford.

Mine has a little planetary gear whine in 1st and 2nd but so did my 2010 and it had a totally different transmission. If it is more than just barely noticeable it needs to be looked at. Mine had some weird shift problems when I first got it. I took it to the dealer and the trans tech said there was nothing wrong with it, but he may have re-flashed it because it hasn't done anything really stupid since.

There is no flash, the bang is from sticking valves. You need to get it in for service and documented. The wine is from excessive line pressure. I have learned more than I want to know about the 10R80 so far. I would rather have the older 6R80 instead.

Is this not an update/flash??

At that level of repair and expense the OEM always calls the shot. Believe me the service department would much rather put a new transmission in than repair this one.
