Just bought a 78 Ranger XLT and working on restoring. Can someone please help with how to remove the woodgrain trim around the glove box and the woodgrain trim on the glove box. Also, how do I remove the steering column cover. Plastic piece attached to lower dash.
The trim on the glove door is glued on. The trim around it is held in place with nuts. Take the carboard box out to get at the nuts behind about 7 or 8 of them. The plastic colume piecr has 2 screws on the bottom.
Thanks for your help! The plastic trim piece on the steering is one piece and won't slip off the column. I have the screws loosened, but the piece will not come off. Looks as though you have to remove the steering wheel???

X2 on double sided tape on the glove box door, careful great way to break the wood grain cover. Hair dryer heat it and putty knife pry.
X3 on glove box liner out and then take the nuts off the studs that hold the glove box trim on.Careful if the trim is plastic the studs break off REAL EASY, if you have the metal/pot metal trim same set up but the studs are a little more durable.
X4 look for a split seam (on the top part) on the lower cover of the steering column to dash underside. 2 phillips screws and then pop the tab. If you want the ONE piece above that yes steering wheel off and then maybe the t/s switch...been a while.
First use a pick to pry the tab on the bottom tab and tilt the vent part out. The pick the 4 sides of the part in the dash, use 4 pieces of scrap copper wire smashed flat like a flat tip.
