I agree that good condition cables will have a big part in the starter operation.
Yes, I would compare my new found cranking speed to be equal to the starter in this video. I'm sure my cables were probably the biggest problem. But I my first lifetime starter didn't make it 4 months before it was dragging which is why I went ahead and replaced this one, which is my second starter. I'm ashamed of how bad my cables were but I may post some pics anyway.

I wonder if the bad cables and connections caused the starter to fail prematurely?
It happens, post the pictures. That way we can have a before and after view.
Things get neglected in life because we simply do not have the time and/or energy to take care of everything around us. We get to the non-important things when we get to them, that is how it is.

Yeah, I only drive this truck on weekends and tow the camper on vacations. So I've let a few things build up. But tow season is coming up so I'm addressing the issues.
I'll get some more pics later today.
I love how fast that cranks. Someday I may fork over the $$ to get a high torque starter.
I refurbished all my electrical connections and replaced my starter with a conventional unit just like the factory starter I took out. The Stink cranks plenty fast without getting all uppity on a fancy-schmancy starter.

The 20-year-old cables were half my problem, and the 20-year-old starter was the other half.
As for the video, the best way is to upload it to YouTube and then link it here.
The old cables, well they had seen better days. They were pretty bad, but I have seen worse that is for sure. Good on you for getting them fixed and back up to shape though.
