Battery cables

Hey gang. I pulled my battery cables off this past weekend. A friend has the supplies to build me up new ones. The positive cable is quite a bit larger from the passenger side terminal to the starter. My question is does it have to be this way or can it be the size as from the drivers side cable?

Pass is the Primary. Go big or go home. Don't downsize.

Keep in mind, that line from the driver's side to passenger's side is only carrying one battery's power, after that it's carrying two, that's the reason for the larger wire.

Will do. I dropped them off yesterday, he built them today. I won't pick them up until Saturday but when I do I'll post up some pictures.

I just upgraded all of mine... 2/0 between batteries and 3/0 to starter, 2/0 main grounds with 4 gauge to fender and frame on the passenger side... here's the drivers side ends...

Here's a few pics. I didn't get one of the whole positive cable. They're crimped soldered and have the heat shrink that has the glue inside.
And to address my original question the cable from passenger side down to the starter is huge. He built them exactly like the stock cables, just with better material.

I also replaced my wonderful reman lifetime starter from the Irish store... For the third time in a year. I think I may have a keeper this time though. It spins it over faster than either of the other two. It actually spins faster than it ever has before. But I told my wife this is the last one I put on. If this starter slows down I'm putting a Denso on it.

Part of the reason that starter spins over faster is your new cables and ends..

Probably some truth in this. I'm ashamed to post up a pic of my old cables /ends lol. But having a good connection at the local Irish store I went ahead put a new starter on it.
It actually spins as fast as the Denso in the video floating around. I may get a vid tomorrow and show.
And to address a related issue I just ordered a Stancor gpr.

This video?

I agree that good condition cables will have a big part in the starter operation.
