guys.
Know it’s been a while since the original thread in this subject.
I own a 85 ford f 250. 4 wheel.
Came with 460 and 4 speed
motor was junk
purchased a 460 from a 73 Lincoln
all rebuilt now
I need to know what oil pan and pickup tube and oil pump to use. Obviously not the one out of the lincoln
please help me out if ya can shed some light. Conflicting info from parts store and was told the parts are non returnable ( special order clause)
thanks in advance. Y’all are great.
Rear sump. Most likely you will need one with the dipstick in the pan. I never did a 460 but I assume it's the same formula. Oil pump extension, special main cap stud to support the extension and the dipstick to go into the pan. I want to say also you might need a special oil filter adapter. I think the truck 460's angled the oil filter a little bit for clearance. Thankfully you are putting a 460 back into a truck that had a 460. They have a special dent in the crossmember for oil filter clearance.
Yea a dumb ***. I’m a heavy truck tech and I should know better. Just got frustrated with parts hangin around. Too many projects.
Got a boat engine I’m doin also.
The junk motor had thrown a rod and tore up the crank and #1 and #2 cylinders. Wanted just to hurl it all.
Threw out the oil pump and pickup and crank and block.
ill get thru it. Had the 73 Lincoln 460 machined and punched 10 over Mild cam
just wanna wrap this project up. And looking for some direction of oil pump and pickup and pan. Fortunately I do have the pan. So that is a plus. It is just not useable donto the rod thrown and dented the **** out of it.
Not a hole in in but don’t want want to trust it.
