That's too bad. Since I have the tailgate camera, it's pretty clear that the tailgate is down in reverse. If it's down and you pull the shifter into drive, does the warning pop up (and stay up) as you pass the shifter past reverse?
I tried just now, it shows the message even if the tailgate it's close and when you start your truck and the tailgate it's close, even if you go and close it the message won't go away
I have the electrical tailgate lock so I don't now if this how is supposed to work

Exactly! I need to have the warning while in park or drive. Can't be that hard with the electric tailgate. No different than the cab doors. This missing feature was sure overlooked.
Last Friday an F450 pulls in front of me in a parking lot. I noticed the tailgate is down. As I talk to him he walks to the back and closes his tailgate. Not the 1st time he says.
Had a chat for 30mins. I told him to watch the FOB! he didn't know
So, it's not in the SD Forscan sheet, it's from the F150 sheet. Still looking for if its the body control module and what line and confirmation would be nice. So far lucky I have not had an issue, but this would be nice.
I was making a funny. My reverse sensors go off when the tailgate is down. I did do a test by taking the cover off and manually opening the tailgate, as if it's being stolen. No alarm 😕. I have the push button type.
After reading railrode1's follow-up post above, I thought he was just kidding about having the tailgate ajar notice only when in reverse - did I miss something??
Had my tailgate drop on my twice. Key fob was in my pocket both times (along with my wallet, sitting, probably mashing the buttons repeatedly). Started taking fob out every time I drove which was kind of annoying. So, I disabled just the key fob tailgate button in Forscan. Has never happened since, and I keep the fob in my pocket without worry now.
I still can't think of a use case where I need that button anyways. Problem solved, at least for now.
I recall reading posts from at least one 2018 owner as well.
Newbie here; Bought my 2018 F250 Lariat 6.7 SB FX4 (New (100mi)) off the lot in Feb '19. Have had 2 instances to date. Would be nice to be notified if it opens while pulling my 5th wheel...

This alone would be worth editing FORSCAN. I've had mine open twice with my pull trailer attached. The tailgate closes so softly that I haven't had damage but it would sure be nice not to have to worry about it. Both times the fob has been in my pocket the first time was when I was loading the trailer and had my pockets full and going up and down stairs with the things I was loading almost the exact same scenario with the second just a year apart...
