Anyone have something similar going on? It’s not enough to even drip or change the dipstick between intervals but.... it’s bothering me and I do not want to leave it this way. It’s been to one local ford dealer who “can’t find the problem”. So I guess I’ll try a new dealer soon.
Anyone see see anything similar ? Or have it fixed already ?
I believe it is coming from the bolt above the arrow, if it is though that would be bad....
Oil leaks are like water and electricity...They take the shortest path to (the) Ground.....Pun intended. Oil leaks can originate from a completly different area then what you can see from below. They are tricky. The other thing oil blows rearward when it enters the path of turbulence so what you see from below may not be where it originates from. I would have the dealer clean the area in question and add a dye to the oil. Take it back in a week and have them look to see where it is originating from. Tracerline is what we used to use. Dye fluoresces yellow-green under both ultraviolet and blue light. Yes, I come the world of dealerships (20 years in the Service Dept). It could be something minor or it could be something that can turn into something major. Good catch and I would have it checked if it were my vehicle.
Dispatching it to the correct tech is the first thing to do. He/She will be dilligent and typically find the location (or general area). Sometimes you can't get into areas without taking things apart and Ford may or may not want to pay for this. I'd get to know the service manager since they can be your advocate betweeen you and Ford. Be calm. Don't go in with your britches on fire you'll get nowhere FAST!!!!! F'n engineers build these things but never have to work on them. Good luck!
It would help us (or at least help me) if you told us (me) what and where you're seeing this oil. 6.7L or 6.2L? Port or starboard and forward or aft? Inquiring minds want to know.
I just got my truck back a week ago for having the same problem fixed. The dealer said it was leaking from the upper pan gasket, they pulled tranny and replaced gasket, rear main seal and reinstalled with all new bolts. I have put 150 miles on the truck and just went out yesterday to find it was leaking again, it looks like to me it's coming from the front cover, I saw one other post of here were someone wrote they had to get a new block because of defects with the block and front cover not sealing up. Anyway back to the dealer my truck goes.
