Can anyone tell me how the hell you get the other end of the interior door release cable out to replace it? I accidentally broke mine the other day messing with the speaker in the door and it was super cold and the plastic broke right off. Now I have to open the driver door from the outside with the window down to get out. I ordered the part and pulled the door panel off to replace it and cannot figure out how to get the end inside the door out to replace it. Dealership wants to charge me for 1.5 hours ($140) to replace it. Picture 1 is the plastic piece that broke and picture 2 is the end I cannot figure out how to get off the truck (it is attached to the window track inside the door)
Thanks @wb6anp, you were a life saver. I got it replaced with your instructions from the manual. It actually wasn't to difficult just time consuming since most of the inner door has to come apart. Thanks again.
Old thread but thanks for the write up.
There is NO easy shortcuts to replacing the cable. Lord knows I tried. The way the cable is retained on the latch may differ but you have to have it out of the truck to get it in place and the cable lock secured.

I was able to do mine recently without removing the whole assembly from the door. I did have to remove the window track on the latch side to give me some wiggle room, and it took a while to get the cable end into the hole, but I was able to eventually do it. Thank you for the picture though. It was helpful in determining what I needed to do.
