There is a leak at the top of the windshield on my '86. Is there an effective and quasi-permanent way to seal around the windshield without removing it - i.e. which is the better product, urethane or silicon? I took off the trim and there are no obvious holes/imperfections.
Baron , I have tried silicone and it was a temp fix (on my 1985 f150.My leak started near the top pass side -1/3 the way in. After the first hot humid summer it reappeared .Fed up with it ,I had a new w/s installed Good luck TR
That's the smart way to go but I'm hoping to get out on the cheap since it's gonna be a deer lease truck. I was cutting away the old sealant around the outside edge and noticed the bottom corner on the passenger side is loose too. At the top about half the sealant wasn't touching metal - there was crud behind it on the windshield frame. I figure that's the source of the leak but who knows.
A windshield removal tool is cheap enough so I may give it a go myself - any special trick to removing and reinstalling windshield glass? Any additional parts or pieces to have on hand other than the sealant?
Not from myself no - I called a mobile window glass company. Suction cups help and another strong hand. Guess you could google it for you tube ,see if there is a vid for it.TR

Hey all, this is an unusual post for me...lol. No politics.
I'm in the process of rebuilding a 1950 f1. When I took the windshield out, there are 4 tabs, 2 top and bottom drivers side, same on passenger side. I saw post from a while back to just cut them off. My question is, What are they for? Must have been some reasoning behind them, but they are in the way. So is cutting them off really the right thing to do? Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks.
