Without removing the windshield, is there any product that I can use to seal the windshield. I've tried silicone, but it wears away. Any suggestions? Is there a type of tape or weather friendly silicone that I'm missing?
Went through that with my 86. Best to take it out and replace the adhesive. See what a local glass place might charge. Started to do mine, almost had all the old adhesive cut and c r a c k. Good thing I had full glass coverage.
I used this stuff: Permatex. Took the trim off the windshield, cleaned out as much of the junk I could get, vacuumed it, and then put this stuff in. It worked perfectly and hasn't leaked in three years.
Mind you, it doesn't fix any rust you might have going on, but it did fix the dried and cracked sealer.

Take off the moulding around the windshield, and seal it up.
It'll help to run water into the area a week prior to find the location of the hole. Let dry, and seal it up.

In mine , I could see where the adhesive had pulled away from the glass. Across almost all of the top. No caulk would help that.
One benefit was that I removed the Lund visor to get at the windshield and gained 2 mpg highway.

That Permatex would fix it as it runs into the cracks and holes before setting up. Goes in like honey and sets up.
