I' getting ready to paint t my ford f-250 4x4 this summer wants a regular cab long bed I am going with the factory blue on navy blue just wanting others opinions on the type of paint I should use water based or solvent based or if there are options I. Not thinking of needs to be durable and look good on a work truck so celebrate I driveit daily for my personal trips and work out of it so it has a headache rack transfer tank and tool box pull trailers a ot so bed line I g underside of the body and I size bed due to I have a gooseneck trailer
"Water based" paints aren't actually water based, they are "water borne". Meaning they still contain solvents, but the solvent attaches to atomized water droplets that evaporate leaving only the paint behind.
If this is a work truck, I'd single stage it. You can buy decent quality single stage paint at any Auto body paint supplier. If you really want base/clear, DuPont Nason or PPG Shopline would be the way to go. I don't have any personal experience with Nason, but I've used Shopline plenty of times, including on my own truck. If you want some higher quality stuff, you can use PPG Deltron DBC (I think they discontinued DBU as of January) but it'll cost quite a bit more.
