water borne paints

I was told at Napa today that solvent based paints would no longer be available in the very near future.Only the waterborne paints would be available.I have painted several cars at home in my shop with Dupont solvent based paint.
My question is,can waterborne paints be sprayed as successfully as a solvent based paint in a home based shop?

Thanks

From: south GA BABY!
ive used the water born primer and its a pretty darn good product, suposed to be able to be used on bare metal and jsut about everything, after drying its as strong as epoxy primer and as impervious, I handnt had the chance to use any water born paint other than my airbrush paint (creatix auto air) and it works wounderfull, It can be used on top of bare plastic, metal, eurathane base everything! works good, now water based clear? dont know nothing about.

TADAAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!! I'm back and sorry about the MIA thingy, had some issues.

Anywho, about waterborne systems, the myth was that one would need all kinds of fancy schmancy new rigs and paint booths to use it, this however is not entirely true. You will need a decent air supply with dessicant dryer etc and the booth is a bit different but the techs with DuPont have told me that you can still use a standard booth, one thing you will have to watch is temperature. Solvent based systems were a bit more temp savvy since they could withstand cooler and warmer temps, waterborne systems don't have that luxury. As fast as colorfast and such they're awesome and seem to hold up well at current usage, but they do tend to take a bit longer to dry.
