Has anyone used Auto Air Colors water based paints? Or any other brand for that matter for a finished paint job? I am getting close to painting my 56 and would very much like to try it if I had some user input. Thanks FF56
HI FatFenders...I have not used the water base. I have done contract jobs for a couple ppg plants. And as of two weeks ago, All most all the totes[ one hundred gallons and up} of all the auto plants products are Water based/ with the large keep from freezing warnings....all most all. and there are ten states that have banned solvent base over one quart to the 'public". I guess this is the future,,,will need guns to use water and not react when spraying....
Tim, I'm almost there on painting the bed on my truck. My cousin is a painter for the studios and has some experience using the waterbase. He likes it because you can adjust the consistency of the paint to where it flows when shooting it, not to mention cleanup is nice. I'll be using it in midnight blue on the bed of my truck in a few weeks. I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks a lot, post some pics!! I am leaning towards black with some real subtle graphics. Frame is red, engine is candy purple. Trimmed out in silver satin and dark, dark gray. Can't wait!!
In researching water-base paints, it seems that they all require a solvent-base clear coat.....Is this correct? Anyone know of a water-base clear coat?
