Has anyone changed out their windshield yet that has the Advanced Driver Assistance System? Does it have to be a Ford windshield or can it be aftermarket? A local glass company wants $300 to re-program the system or take it to the dealer for re-programming.
Had mine replaced a 4 months ago by Safelite. I was told at the time OE was the only one available, prolly changed by now. But I wanted a genuine anyway...I paid $380 out the door including mobile service and 6% sales tax. I was expecting to have to reset the nanny systems behind he rear view mirror but found that they were fine.
If the guy knows what he’s doing, nothing should need to be recalibrated. If you have the lane assist camera, it locks into its own cleat on the glass. I’d be more worried that they get the new windshield sealed properly, it’s a huge opening.
I had my original replaced two months after taking delivery due to a rock strike that turned into a full length crack in a matter of minutes and all is well. The replacement glass, which is OEM seems much stronger than the one that came from the factory.
The Factory windshields are also Acustical Glass. They are marked as SoundStream. And you definitely want to get that. A big difference in the cab noise
