Hey folks! Quick one. I've got a '17 platinum fully loaded. Crack in windshield. Dealership pointed me at the place they go to for replacements, saying it'd save me about 20% skipping them.
The place was pretty specific on the phone that they use authentic ford OEM glass (and that they dont have a choice anyway for this specific windshield).
One clarification I was hoping you guys might know, they were really specific to point out this glass doens't come from the Tennessee glass factory, that it comes from a Mexican factory.. but that's legit Ford glass, but won't have the TN stamp on it.. and then went on how they'd have pissed off customers thinking they were being scammed.
Assuming it's not a scam since this my dealerships go to place.. but anyone seen/heard the same?
they also made a side comment that about 25% of folks then need to take the truck back to the dealer after for calibration of the front cameras. Seems legit?
Had mine replaced late last year after a rock strike spidered the glass inside of twenty minutes. Crack ran three feet almost instantly. Had OEM glass installed via my insurance carrier, zero deductible. Mine has lane keep assist and I had to do nothing after installation. Mine works perfectly. Specific to glass from Mexico....not too sure. Mine has the Tn stamp.
